2003 Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo
Will Rogers Center, Jan. 11-Feb. 2, 2003

Will Rogers Memorial Center hosts Fort Worth’s 107th Stock Show & Rodeo from Jan. 11 through Feb. 2. Highlights include 22,000 head of livestock including horses, donkeys, mules, beef and dairy cattle, sheep, swine, llamas, rabbits, poultry and pigeons. The world-famous rodeo will feature more than 900 cowboys and cowgirls, including current and past champions, who will vie for rodeo honors and a share of the $400,000 purse.

During the rodeo performances, visitors will see the GMC Chuck Wagon races and the annual Fort Worth Calf Scramble where high school-aged youths attempt to catch and halter a frisky calf who wants more than anything to escape being caught. Winners receive a $500 certificate to purchase a purebred heifer that will become a year-long 4-H or FFA project. Another noteworthy show is "Exhibicion Charra Mexicana" presented by Coors Light, and radio stations KESS, KHCK & KLNO on Jan. 14th & 15th at 7:30 p.m. Gerardo "Jerry" Diaz, "El Charro de Corazon," and his entertainers present a show of horsemanship and roping artistry, Mariachi music, Folklorico dancing and other cultural traditions dating back to the 17th century. Also included in this segment of the Stock Show & Rodeo is an eight-member National Champion Side Saddle Riding Team and an exhibition of traditional bullfighting performed by twin matadors from Monterey, Mexico.

The Midway, under new management by Talley Amusements, offers show goers a fresh new look with traditional carnival treats and daring rides for thrill seekers who want to do their own riding.

Stock Show shoppers may choose from 200 commercial sources featuring the latest farm and ranch equipment and western wear during the 23-day Show.Rodeo tickets for the performances between Jan. 17 and Feb. 2, Mon.-Thu. nights and Mon.-Fri. matinees, are $16.
