The nation's oldest livestock show and exciting rodeo, along with a variety of other family educational and entertainment offerings will run for 24 days from January 12 through February 4.

Stock show attendees are always provided an entertaining and fun-packed variety of things to do and see. Setting the standard as a world-class livestock show, more than 22,000 animals from around the nation will be exhibited. Along with the magnificent horses, there will be rabbits, llamas, longhorns and leghorns, as well as numerous other animals and poultry.

Also, visitors can take home their own souvenirs. From the 4 acres of shopping choices, they will find new boots, furniture, new pickups, and a range of new barns among the more than 200 exhibitors in the exhibit halls.

Fittingly, ranching and western heritage kicks off the Stock Show with Ranching Heritage Weekend, January 12, 13 and 14. Presented by Western Horseman magazine, the weekend is highlighted by the "Best of the West" Invitational Ranch Rodeo on January 12 and 13 at 7:30 p.m. The nation's top ranch horses will be sold at the prestigious American Quarter Horse Association Best of the Remuda Sale on January 13 followed by the highly acclaimed Invitational Ranch Horse Show and Sale on January 14.

The color and pageantry of the "Best of Mexico Celebración" is a must see for those who enjoy the romantic combinations of music, horses, vaqueros and senoritas, featuring Jerry Diaz, a distinguished fourth generation charro. Sponsored by Coors Light and Univision, this spectacular production pays tribute to centuries old Mexican traditions with special exhibitions of roping, bull riding, Folkorico dancing and Mariachi music. Performances of this special show will be held January 14 at 7:30 p.m. and January 15 at 2 p.m.

"Bulls Night Out" is one of the more rough and tumble "extreme bull riding" events seen at any stock show and rodeo. Two thrilling performances - January 16 and 17 - showcase 40 of the world's toughest bull riders competing for championships each night. This event is presented by Lone Star Land Bank, a part of the Farm Credit System.

The action-packed "world's original indoor rodeo" features traditional rodeo events in addition to the GMC Chuck Wagon Races, Coors Cowtown Cutting and the always entertaining Calf Scramble courtesy of Mrs. Baird's Bakeries and Justin Boots. Held in the Will Rogers Coliseum and sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboy's Association, the rodeo runs January 19 through February 4. And don't forget the fun rides on the Midway, the Petting Zoo and Planet Agriculture.

Tickets for weekend Rodeo performances - Friday evening through Sunday - are $20, and performances running Monday through Friday matinees are $16.

Tickets can be purchased at the Will Rogers Ticket Office or by calling 817-877-2420. They are also available through Ticketmaster outlets, by calling 972-647-5700 or Ticketmaster.com. Convenience charges are added by Ticketmaster and are nonrefundable. For more information, visit www.fwssr.com.
