Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth Beginning Feb. 7, in the new Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, visitors may view not only the architectural wonders of Tadao Ando's design and the breathtaking and thought provoking works from the Modern’s permanent collection, but movies too. An ongoing series of films "The Magnolia at the Modern" will feature critically acclaimed films that were not scheduled for regular showings in this area. Included in the series are restored prints of classic movies, independent and foreign films, documentaries and short subjects. The Kid Stays in the Picture, the opening movie, will be introduced by Tearlach Hutcheson, film theorist, who oversees Magnolia Pictures' film exhibition division and teaches at Southern Methodist University. The Kid ... examines the life of Hollywood's legendary Robert Evans. Rated R for language, some violence and sexual images, The Kid ..., the film Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun Times deems "One of the most honest films ever made about Hollywood," plays Feb. 7th at 6 p.m. & 8 p.m. & Feb. 9th, at 2 p.m. & 4 p.m. Late Marriage, set in the Georgian Émigré community of Tel Aviv, is the story of two people caught between true love and family tradition. The film deals with complex adult themes and explicit nudity; with subtitles. Feb. 14, 6 p.m. & 8 p.m., & Feb. 16 2 & 4 p.m. Feb. 21, at 6 & 8 p.m. and 23, 2 & 4 p.m., Alias Betty, will be screened. Director Claude Miller gives a French twist to English novelist Ruth Rendell’s taut thriller, A Tree of Hands. Feb. 28, at 5:15 p.m., Fast Runner, an Inuit-language film based on an ancient legend, tells the story of two generations of igloo-dwelling Inuits whose harmonious existence is disrupted by an evil spirit. Violence, sex and language with subtitles. Running time is 172 minutes. Show times may be adjusted to account for longer running features. Movie tickets are $5.50 for Modern members & $7.50 for non-members with screenings in the 250-seat Modern auditorium. The Museum's permanent collection exhibition is free.
