GUEST SERVICES Making Tenants Happy at Burnett Plaza Sandy Berry, the concierge at Prentiss Properties Burnett Plaza, acts as liaison between property management and the building's 2,500 tenants. "My job is different from that of a hotel concierge," Sandy says. Tenants obtain routine services through the building office while Sandy caters to entertainment and personal needs. "Assisting tenants is an everyday responsibility, but the task is multiplied when other company representatives visit. Many have never visited Texas and I'm obliged to welcome them. I predominately use Key Magazine to show them where to eat, stay, and play." Sandy is no stranger to the concierge profession. She developed an interest while working with her husband for the Ben Hogan Company. "We ran the golf tour in 1990 and hosted 30 events all over the US," Sandy said. "I learned how to deal effectively with people and came to love it." Sandy landed her concierge position in an unusual way – she almost inherited it. Her daughter held the position for eleven years then opted for a move to Arizona. Sandy expressed an interest in the position and was quickly hired. "My daughter trained me via telephone from Arizona," Sandy said. "Then I improved my skills by joining Corporate Concierge Incorporated and the National Concierge Association of America. I've been here three years and I love very day of it." Sandy Berry keeps a busy schedule producing a monthly newsletter, procuring entertainment tickets, and coordinating special events. She involves tenants in craft and vendor shows, charitable drives and community activities. "I'm thrilled with the response of our tenants and the enthusiasm they demonstrate," Sandy says. "My goal as a concierge is not just to help my clients but to make them happy. My motto is simple. I simply urge clients to go places, do stuff, and celebrate the good things in life." Current
