Texas Motor Speedway NASCAR comes to Texas Motor Speedway the weekend of March 27-30 for the Busch Series O'Reilly 300 (March 29) and the Winston Cup Series Samsung/RadioShack 500 (March 30). Qualifying for the Busch race is Thursday, March 27, with gates opening at 11 a.m. and qualifying getting underway at 3:30 p.m. Qualifying for the Winston Cup race is Friday, March 28, at 3:05 p.m. Gates open to the public that day at 10 a.m. Nearly 120,000 fans are expected for the O'Reilly 300 which has a 1 p.m. green flag start on Saturday, March 29. A sellout crowd of more than 210,000 is expected for the Sunday, March 30 Samsung/RadioShack 500 which gets underway at noon.Fans have a chance to ride with their favorite Winston Cup driver in the pre-race parade lap Sunday, March 30, by way of an auction Saturday, March 29, following the Busch Series O'Reilly 300 race in Hospitality Village. For information on the auction, call (817) 215-8564. Texas Motor Speedway opened in 1997, hosting the NASCAR Winston Cup Series and Busch Series its inaugural races. The world renowned speedway is a 1.5-mile oval with curves banked at 24-degrees and the straightaways banked at five degrees. The front stretch is 2,250-feet long and the back stretch measures 1,330 feet. Forty-two pit stalls are home to the teams along the front stretch during the race. Grandstand seating accommodates 154,861 fans with an infield capacity of more than 50,000. Texas Motor Speedway’s Dirt Track hosts two weekends of O'Reilly World of Outlaws sprint car racing. Races are March 28-29 with gates opening at 5 p.m. each day. The two nights of racing also feature Modified cars. The Indy Racing League and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series come to Texas Motor Speedway June 5-7. The IndyCar Series Bombardier 500k (June 7) is the original nighttime IndyCar race. Trucks take to the track on Friday night, June 6, for the O'Reilly 400k. Qualifying is Thursday, June 5 for both races. October 10-12, the Indy Racing League and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series return along with the O'Reilly World of Outlaws. Sprint cars compete two nights on the dirt track. The truck series Silverado 350k is Saturday, Oct. 11, followed by the IndyCar Series Chevy 500 on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 12.
