Spring Time in the Fort Worth Botanic Garden Step into the Garden and discover the peaceful atmosphere in the midst of this bustling city. April brings festivals, plant sales, and opportunities to enjoy the beautiful blooms of spring. The Spring Festival in the Japanese Garden begins Saturday, April 1 and continues through Sunday, April 2. Japanese entertainment, crafts, food, art, course martial arts, bonsai demonstrations, and lots of music featuring the Taiko Drummers and other Japanese musicians, will provide a weekend of fun and family activities. When visiting the Japanese Garden, it’s hard to believe that over thirty years ago this gracious landscape rose from a site that was a trash-filled ravine. It is now a world-renowned garden of traditional Japanese design. Nature lovers can visit the Japanese Garden year round. Hours of operation during Daylight Saving Time are 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. Standard Time hours, from November to March, are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Weekdays, general admission is $3, children 12 and under, $2, and children 3 and under, free. Seniors 50 cents off regular admission prices. Fort Worth Botanical Society Members free.
The Texas Native Forest Boardwalk is nearing completion. Take time to stroll the winding path and the elevated portion that gives each visitor a unique view of the forest. Sometime during your visit to the garden, stop by the Gardens Restaurant for a delightful lunch and something refreshing to drink. The menu is varied, the service is great, and there is no better atmosphere in North Texas for a relaxed lunch with a real view. If you love shopping, the Treasure Tree Gift Shop provides an opportunity to find unusual gifts for friends and family members of all ages. April 8, the annual Spring Plant Sale blossoms forth with thousands of hard-to-find-plants and garden art for your lawn. The Garden staff can assist you with choices and give helpful hints on how to ensure success with your spring plantings once you get them home.
