Word from the CVBs Fort Worth Is Happening “Start you engines!”–a second NASCAR race is coming to Fort Worth! The Texas Motor Speedway successfully obtained the second NASCAR race that has been hoped for since the TMS first opened. Fort Worth and the DFW area are proud to be home site to TMS, the nation’s second largest sports and entertainment facility. It is appropriate that this great facility have a second NASCAR race in the same season. The two races next year are officially known as the NASCAR Nextel Cup races, and they will be on April 17 and November 6, 2005. The Fort Worth Convention & Visitors Bureau and the entire hospitality community is pleased with this announcement. It will be another major week of activity citywide when thousands of out-of-town visitors come to our community and when local residents get to experience NASCAR racing at its very best. The far north area of Fort Worth is growing rapidly as a major tourism destination of national significance. Only a few weeks ago, the U.S. Department of Treasury’s Bureau of Engraving and Printing opened their new visitor center and tour facilities. On the same day as the announcement about the Speedway’s second race, the popular retailer Cabela’s, the “world’s foremost outfitter” for outdoor gear, also released plans to build one of their large stores and entertainment facilities near TMS. In addition, Fort Worth also enjoys the annual International Airshow at Alliance Airport. These exciting developments are establishing North Fort Worth as one of the premier visitor areas of our state and nation. Start Having Some FUN! June means FUN CENTRAL Arlington, Texas.
