Word from the CVBs A New Exhibit Adds to Fort Worth’s Reputation as “Museum Capital of the Southwest” The newly opened “Lone Star Dinosaurs” at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History (FWMSH) will certainly become a popular stop for children and adults alike. The museum’s new exhibit, with major support from the National Science Foundation, is a local attraction with national significance and promises to engage people of all ages in the thrill of discovery. It’s 8,000 square feet of hands-on interactive exhibits, such as a quarry-like field site, laser technology, introductory videos, and loads of bones and fossils from the Lone Star State. I remember how impressed I was as a child when I first began to learn about the various dinosaurs that once roamed these lands. (In fact, I still have the small metal dinosaur models that my mother gave me after a visit to a university museum.) Our FWMSH has a distinguished record of displaying and interpreting the science of paleontology, and the Lone Star Dinosaurs exhibit is a good reason to visit Fort Worth and its many great museums. North Texas is the site of many significant dinosaur discoveries. Numerous people have seen the original dinosaur tracks at the State Park in Glen Rose and the previous exhibits at the FWMSH. However, very few have had the actual experience of being in the field and going through the scientific process to recover and analyze dinosaur remains. This major exhibit takes a new approach, putting the visitor into the scientific process used by professional paleontologists. Start an exploration of early Texas and the time when great dinosaurs roamed across the region at our wonderful Fort Worth Museum of Science and History. In fact, the DFW region’s museums are some of the finest in the nation, and the Lone Star Dinosaur exhibit is another reason that Fort Worth enjoys the reputation as “Museum Capital of the Southwest.” FUN CENTRAL™ Arlington, TX So you’ve coordinated calendars, had your vacation time approved, selected your destination and lined up a sitter for your setter.
