2006 World Championship Paint Horse Show

Find fun equine activities for the whole family, an expanded lineup of classes, a topnotch horse sale, and entertainment at the 2006 World Championship Paint Horse Show, set for June 25 through July 8 in Fort Worth. For 14 straight days, discover all things equestrian in the sprawling 85-acre Will Rogers Memorial Center, located in the heart of Fort Worth’s cultural district. Admission and parking at all APHA World Show events are free.

Watch nearly 2,000 beautiful American Paint Horses compete for world champion titles, attend free training seminars, buy an outstanding Paint at the Showcase Sale, and shop at the Colors of the West Gift and Trade Show. There will also be special activities for the kids throughout the event.

An annual non-qualifying event for registered American Paint Horses, the World Show will feature 179 classes, including five challenge series classes and three sweepstakes events. Exhibitors from around the world will demonstrate their skills in halter, Western, English, cattle, driving, and speed classes. APHA plans special entertainment and educational demonstrations for adults and children of all ages as part of its Colors of the West Gift and Trade Show.

Some of the activities planned for the Colors of the West Arena include: horse training and health care demonstrations; Six Flags Over Texas Wild West Show acts; Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association demonstrations; product and fashion shows; musical entertainment; horse rides for kids; plus coloring contests, parades, horse show tours and more.

Special entertainment is planned including riding demonstrations, patriotic acts and other activities–in the John Justin Arena prior to the start of each 6 p.m. performance class.

Two special kids’ days are planned for this year’s World Show. Be sure to bring the whole family out on June 30 and July 4 for fun-filled children’s activities, including Paint Horse rides, face painting, and educational activities. Radio Disney will even be visiting the World Show on June 30. APHA, which prides itself on being a family-oriented organization, dedicates the first week of the show to youth classes and activities.

This year, the association has invited youths from all nations to participate in the Youth Paint World Games on June 29, and to stay for the duration of the show. Teams will compete in four categories–trail, reining, showmanship and horsemanship. For 2006, teams representing Germany, Canada, Australia, USA, Sweden and France, have already been confirmed.

APHA’s World Showcase Sale is the perfect place to buy an American Paint Horse. The sale starts at noon on Saturday, July 1, offering more than 80 quality Paint Horses.

Get your chance to win a registered American Paint yearling filly by making a $10 donation to support APHA youth activities and scholarships. The winner of Brigalenas Nu Flyer will be announced July 8, during the evening session.

The filly can be seen daily at 1:30 p.m. from Sunday, June 25, to Thursday, June 29, in the Colors of the West Gift and Trade Show arena, located in the Amon Carter Exhibit Hall.

Tickets may be purchased during the viewing sessions, at the AjPHA booth, at ajpha.com, or by calling 817-834-2742, ext. 248.

The APHA will offer a pair of custom spurs, hand-crafted by Billy Klapper, a renowned bit and spur maker from Pampa, Texas, at the World Showcase Sale set for July 1 in the W.R. Watt Arena, located in the Moncrief Building of the Will Rogers Memorial Center. The proceeds of the spurs will support the APHA Foundation’s youth scholarship program.

Other choices in the live portion of the sale to benefit The Foundation include a bit and spurs designed by Gist Silversmiths, a hand-sculpted bronze statue created by Clay Gant, and a product package offered by Pro Stepps. All proceeds from these sales will benefit the APHA Foundation.
