Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation Night at LaGrave Field

The Fort Worth Cats will host Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation Night at LaGrave Field on Thursday, July 13, 2006, when the Cats meet the St. Paul Saints at 7:05 p.m. Pre-game ticket sales ordered through the Cats will be donated to the Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation Scholarship Fund. Discounted tickets of only $5 each are available in blocks of 20, 50 and 100. Fans can order tickets by calling 817-226-CATS.

The former player/manager of the Cats from 1948-52 is today the CEO/Chairman of the Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation. The money from the foundation goes to youth scholarships. Bobby began the foundation in 1992 and to date has awarded over $900,000 to more than 360 outstanding students. The mission of the foundation is simple-to support, encourage, and motivate eighth grade students to become outstanding scholars, citizens, and athletes, and to become leaders and role models for their peers.

Bragan is without a doubt one of the most colorful characters that ever had the pleasure of wearing a Fort Worth Cats uniform. His 1948 and 1949 teams won the regular season title in the Texas League. The ‘48 club won the league playoffs as well.

Bragan would go on to manage in the majors for the Pirates, Indians, and Braves. He managed future Hall of Famers Roberto Clemente, Bill Mazeroski, Hank Aaron, Eddie Mathews, Warren Spahn and Bob Lemon.

Come out and support the Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation on July 13 as 100 percent of the proceeds from pre-game ticket sales ordered through the Cats will be donated to the scholarship fund. Tickets can be ordered by calling 817-226-CATS (2287).
