Catch the Cowgirl Spirit
Among the 159 honorees in the Museum's Hall of Fame
are pioneering women like painter Georgia O'Keeffe; Sacajawea, the
principal guide for the Lewis and Clark expedition; Maria Martinez,
the San Ildefonso pueblo potter; Clara Brown, the former slave, businesswoman
and humanitarian; Laura Ingalls Wilder, author of the Little House
on the Prairie books; sharpshooter and Wild West performer Annie Oakley;
country singer Patsy Cline; Dale Evans, the Queen of the West; and
Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor. Established in Hereford, Texas in 1975, the National
Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame has been recording, preserving and
celebrating the dreams, determination and successes of the cowgirl
for the past 27 years. The new facility encompasses approximately
33,000 square feet and was designed by David M. Schwarz, who also
designed Bass Performance Hall, the Ballpark in Arlington and the
new American Airlines Arena in Dallas. Located off Montgomery and
Burnett-Tandy, just south of the Fort Worth Museum of Science and
History, it features three gallery areas, a multipurpose theatre equipped
with state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment, a flexible exhibit area,
research library, and a 2,000 square-foot gift shop specializing in
western gifts. Wonderful dreams. Inspiring stories. Courageous women.
That's what the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame is all about.
It will educate, entertain and warm the hearts of all who enter. And,
what’s more, it will make everyone, young and old,
men and women, and boys and girls, realize that they too can achieve
their grandest dreams. Go to www.cowgirl.net or call 817-336-4475 for more information.1720 Gendy, Fort Worth, TX 76107. Current
