GUEST SERVICES

Guest Relations – Boomerang Style
by Don Patterson

Australian aborigines are credited with introducing the boomerang, a throwing stick that returns to the hand of the user. Dan Yantis, General Manager of Fort Worth’s Country Inn & Suites, uses a similar device in his quest to offer guests the highest quality service. “I like to make sure that when our patrons leave they had such an enjoyable time they can’t wait to pay us a return visit,” he explains. Like throwing a boomerang, Dan bids guests a gracious farewell and measures his success by welcoming them back again.

Dan has 14 years of wide experience in hotel operations. He has worked since age 17 in several career related jobs serving as bartender, desk clerk, assistant manager, and general manager at hotel sites in Arlington, Dallas, Lewisville, and ultimately, Fort Worth. “The Country Inn property is five years old,” Dan relates. “I’ve been GM for four years and want to make this property the best in the area. We are part of the Carlson/Radisson chain, so we have some outstanding credentials to uphold. Ours is a small intimate property a short distance away from the downtown hustle and bustle. We’ve welcomed Charley Daniels, Tanya Tucker, Loretta Lynn, and others who like to maintain lodging away from the tourist arena. We strive to make everyone who visits comfortable whether a celebrity or routine visitor,” Dan explains.

Dan uses Key Magazine as an added tool in serving guests. “We use it extensively,” he says, “to inform guests not only about Fort Worth and Arlington, but the various other day trip options, including the outlying areas like Glen Rose, Granbury, and beyond.”

Dan is proud of his facility team and their efforts. “I’d like to think that our guest services are better than anyone else’s. We have extensive training programs to insure that our guests’ contact with our staff is always a positive experience. I think our guest relations expertise comes from the concept that we treat our guests the way we would like to be treated,” he explains.
