Word from the CVBs Amon Carter Museum's Remarkable Collection of Photographs The Amon Carter Museum is one of our nation's great museums for many reasons and a cornerstone of Fort Worth's cultural community. Its key strength is its outstanding collection of photography. The museum's major expansion, which was completed in 2001, created exhibit space to publicly and comprehensively showcase this celebrated collection. Special exhibitions are now regularly on view in the museum's improved galleries, including several scheduled this summer and fall. Through August 20th, the Amon Carter features a traveling exhibition entitled "100 Great American Photographs." These works are from the permanent collection and demonstrate the enormous wealth of photography that the museum holds. When this show concludes, a second important photography exhibit entitled "An Artistic Legacy: Photographers Archives at the Carter" will open and be on view through February 2007. This exhibit highlights key works from such well-known photographers as Laura Gilpin, Eliot Porter, Erwin Smith and Karl Struss. Erwin Smith is regarded as one the most gifted photographers to capture the cowboy heritage in Texas on film. Photography is a key feature of another exhibit - called "Eye of the Beholder: Artists of the United States War With Mexico, 1846-1848" - which runs through December at the museum. In 1989, the Carter presented a significant exhibition on the War with Mexico, and this new show expands perspectives on the War through significant additional materials, including some of the earliest wartime photographs ever taken. Don't miss this opportunity to visit the Amon Carter Museum to view some of the most important photography in the United States. Spend a Tax Free Holiday in Fun Central

The music of Warm Country Heart comes to Granbury at a brand new location on August 12, 2006. Classic mixtures of instrumental and vocal arrangements bring back the magic of Floyd Cramer, Chet Atkins, and Boots Randolph. The group known as Warm Country Heart formerly played venues in Glen Rose. On May 1, 2006, however, the historic theatre was destroyed by fire. Moving forward was easy according to band member and drum aficionado, Jack Gruebal. "A fire may have destroyed the Glen Rose theatre, but it has not destroyed our spirit, so we will continue to play the kind of music we all love." Though saddened by the loss of most of their musical instruments the band has persevered. Through fund raising concerts and support from those who love their music - all was not lost. Playing to sold-out crowds at every benefit concert has finally paid off and brought the band to the new location in Granbury at 1310 Weatherford Highway. The first performance in the new theatre will be at 7:30 p.m., August 12. As a complement to the already rich entertainment venues of Granbury Live, Granbury Opera House, and Granbury Riverboat, the music of Warm Country Heart will continue to be a crowd pleaser with classic country hits from the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s mixed with a little Dixieland jazz and a pinch of Bob Wills and Western Swing. For concert information and reservations please call 866-751-8263 or contact the Granbury Convention & Visitors Bureau at 800-950-2212. This magnificent show which has been performed in front of hundreds of thousands of people and toured the world to such far away places as Russia, runs every Friday and Saturday night from September through November 11.
