Masterworks from Texas Collections," an exhibition of 59 masterpieces
drawn from private, public and corporate collections from throughout
the state of Texas. This group of paintings, sculptures, watercolors
and photographs celebrates the achievements of those collectors in
Texas whose holdings reflect the essential nature of our country's
character. Some of the artists represented are John Singleton Copley,
Winslow Homer, Edward Hopper, David Smith, Alfred Stieglitz and Garry
Winogrand. Many of the artists whose works are in this exhibition
are also represented in the Carter's collection, which offers visitors
an opportunity to compare an artist's work from different career periods.
A 146 page catalogue, featuring an essay on the history of fine art
