Nation's Smallest & Finest Compete in Grand Equine Style
AMHA's 25th Anniversary Celebration

The story of the American Miniature Horse, nearly 400 years in the making, is steeped in both adventure and the love of little horses. And the adventure continues Sept. 27-Oct. 5 as Fort Worth hosts the American Miniature Horse Association National Show at Will Rogers Memorial Center. To honor the Association's 25th year, the 2003 show’s theme is a "Sterling Anniversary Celebration."

The AMHA National Show attracts the world’s best to vie for titles in 174 classes and a chance to capture a coveted National Grand Championship.Amateur, Open, Youth, and Special Needs Individuals will compete in halter, showmanship, driving, jumping, and obstacle.

Trade show vendors will also be in place to offer a wide variety of wares including fine jewelry, tack, clothing, and gifts, as well as many other items.

Each day begins at 8 a.m. with classes running throughout the day. Admission is FREE.

The equine athletes competing at the National Show stand only 34 inches, and under, and weigh an average of 175 pounds. The result of nearly 400 years of selective breeding, American Miniature Horses are versions of full-sized horses possessing conformation characteristics found in most equine breeds. Varied in color and types, the versatile American Miniature Horse excels in several disciplines including jumping and driving.

In 1978 a group of dedicated horsemen met to create the American Miniature Horse Association. Their goal was to promote the breeding, use, and perpetuation of the American Miniature Horse breed, separate from ponies and other small equines.

AMHA is the world’s leading Miniature Horse registry and sixth largest foal-producing equine breed registry with more than 140,000 horses and 12,000 members in 30 countries and provinces. Miniature Horses registered with AMHA must meet the Association standards and cannot exceed 34 inches in height.
