Family Fun in the Stockyards
By Douglas Harman
President and CEO, Fort Worth Convention & Visitors Bureau

"Four Hours of Fun!" in the Historic Stockyards is one of the great experiences available to groups of young persons as well as adults. Each day at 11:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., drovers guide the Fort Worth Herd of longhorns down Exchange Avenue. It is always exciting to see the cattle drive in the Stockyards, but it is just one aspect of what can be four hours of educational fun for groups of visitors.

"Four Hours of Fun!" is a program operated cooperatively by Stockyards Station and the Fort Worth Herd program. Through this program, parties can take a walking tour of the Historic Stockyards, experience a demonstration about cattle drives and the equipment used during this era, visit the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame and also enjoy the Cowtown Cattlepen Maze. The program can be geared to children, adults or a combination of both. Fort Worth is fortunate to have a wonderful array of historic stockyards buildings as well as a living history program about the trail drive days of the 1870s. The history of Texas is directly tied to longhorn cattle, cattle drives and the Fort Worth Stockyards. The "Four Hours of Fun!" program makes learning about this important part of our Texas history entertaining and educational.

For more information about "Four Hours of Fun!" call 817-625-9715. For groups of 20 persons, the cost is $8 each, with children 3 and younger free. Experience "Four Hours of Fun!" and learn about the exciting heritage that gave Fort Worth the name "Cowtown."
