Looking for Fall Color?
Come to the Japanese Garden

No need to travel to New England or Arkansas to see blazing reds, oranges and yellows of Japanese Maples, Oaks, and Sweet Gums, they are here. The Japanese Garden in the Fort Worth Botanic Garden is an available Fall Color Destination for our area.

All this color forms a backdrop for a season of activities in the Fort Worth Botanic Garden. At the Fall Plant Sale you may purchase hard to find plants, garden art, and featured roses and begonias. The Garden staff will assist you with your selections and offer helpful hints on how to ensure success with your fall plantings once you get them home.

The annual Japanese Garden celebration continues with the 2004 Fall Festival. Japanese entertainment, crafts, food, art, music and, of course, martial arts and Bonsai demonstrations, will provide a weekend of entertainment as well as many fun-filled family activities. When visiting the Japanese Garden, it’s hard to believe that over thirty years ago it rose on a site that was a trash-filled ravine to become a world renowned garden of traditional Japanese design.

After you have toured the Japanese Garden, take time to stroll through the other gardens that make up the Fort Worth Botanic Garden. Take note of the new entrance arch for the Native Forest Boardwalk, located across the street from the Gardens Restaurant. Walk along its curving path leading to the elevated portion of the boardwalk where further construction will begin near the end of the year.

Runners and recreational walkers, put November 13th on your calendar. The fourth annual BG Squirrel Run is scheduled that day plus all the family activities planned in conjunction with the Run. The Run is a fund raiser for the Native Forest Boardwalk. This year the 1k children’s run will take kids through the new entrance to the boardwalk, down its curving path to the finish line, and on to the clowns, face painting, veggie sculpture, Cowboy Story Teller, food and drinks.

During your visit to the garden, stop by the Gardens Restaurant for lunch and liquid refreshments. The menu is varied, the service is great and there is no better atmosphere in North Texas for a relaxed lunch with a real view.
