Hanging Out for Charity Digging into your wallet to aid local charities can be challenging. But you can make the task less difficult by visiting Fort Worth’s Hangman’s House of Horrors, where partial proceeds of your admission price go to several local charities. Hangman’s House opens its creaking door every Friday and Saturday in October, and nightly Oct. 21-31. The brainchild of this spooky seasonal attraction is D’ann Dagen, founder of La-De-Da Productions, and a twenty-nine year champion of charity fundraising. “Running haunted houses benefiting charities has been my major career,” D’Ann says. “The first one I managed was as a drama department project during my senior college year in Oklahoma. Later, I was hired by the March of Dimes to conduct their haunted house fundraisers. Eventually, haunted houses became more commercial and less focused on supporting charities. I fought that trend by investing my own money in producing Hangman’s House. We continue to be dedicated to charitable fundraising.” This year, Hangman’s House will benefit the American Cancer Society, A Wish With Wings, the Humane Society of North Texas, the Lone Star Film Society, and Women’s Haven of Tarrant County. Hangman’s House of Horrors offers four attractions in one – a half hour haunted tour, Lions Gate Films’ production of Saw Madness, a fun house featuring a new dimension of color, light and sound, and a theatrical production entitled Hillbillies of the Corn. So, if you’re looking for an entertaining evening, and a way to help local charities, visit Hangman’s House of Horrors. 2300 West Freeway. 817-336-2111 or www.hangmans.com Current
