Horses and Riders Compete in the Chevy Trucks / NCHA World Championship Futurity

Beginning Nov. 27 and continuing through Dec. 15, the Fort Worth community will be inundated with cutters. Over 1,400 three-year-old cutting horses plus all of the trucks, trailers, people and the energy that comes along with them, will converge on Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum to compete for an estimated $3 million in winnings.

The excitement of the Futurity is a long-standing tradition in the cutting horse industry. For cutters, horse owners and spectators alike, the thrill lies in the unknown: which one of these untried three-year-olds will win the competition. The winning team of horse and rider will be the one that advances successfully through four rounds of competition. Champions will be crowned in five divisions. Again in 2002, the Open Champion is guaranteed a check for $200,000.

Chevy Trucks is a new title sponsor this year. Chevy Trucks has been a sponsor of the NCHA for 17 years, and has been the title sponsor of the NCHA's Eastern and Western National Championships. As added support of the Futurity, this year's sponsorship of NCHA includes a fully loaded Duramax Diesel truck that will be given away to a NCHA member on the evening of Dec.15.

The 8th Annual Celebrity Cutting to be held on Dec. 6 at WRMC during the Futurity. Celebrity Cutting is a one-night-only opportunity to watch some of the nation's best celebrity cutters while supporting two great causes--Cancer Care and NCHA Charities.

From Nov. 15 through Dec. 15, Brumbaugh's Leather Gallery will donate a portion of their sales to the National Youth Cutting Horse Association.

The "Cowboy Christmas Extravaganza" opens at 9 a.m. daily through Dec. 15 with 100,000 square feet of shopping opportunities. Admission and parking are free.
