NCHA World Championship Futurity Hats, boots, and jingling spurs will be the norm around town during the NCHA World Championship Futurity. NCHA's boot prints will be all over Fort Worth beginning November 24 and continuing through December 12. Over 1,400 three-year-old cutting horses, plus all of the trucks, trailers, people, and energy that come along with them will converge on the Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum to compete for an estimated $3 million in winnings. Excitement of the Futurity is a long-standing tradition in the cutting horse industry. For cutters, horse owners, and spectators alike, the thrill lies in the unknown. This will be the first time these three-year-old athletes have ever been shown in competition. The winning team of horse and rider will be the one that advances successfully through four rounds of competition requiring a talented horse and a superb horseman. The Futurity is the first jewel in the NCHA Triple Crown of cutting. In 2002-03, Chiquita Pistol, owner Tooter Dorman, and rider Tag Rice, became only the third team in NCHA history to capture the crown. They joined Smart Little Lena (1982-83) and Docs Okie Quixote (1983-84) in the NCHA history books. There will be many special events held in conjunction with this year's Futurity. The 10th Anniversary Celebrity Cutting produced by Careity Foundation is scheduled for December 3 at WRMC. The Celebrity Cutting is one of a kind, one night only opportunity to watch some of the nation's best celebrity cutters while supporting two great causes – Cariety and NCHA Charities. Following the 9 p.m. cutting program , a benefit auction and live performances by Tracy Byrd, Clay Walker and Trick Pony will take place at the Round Up Inn. Carter Exhibit Hall. Cowboy Santa will make several appearances during the show and will be available for photos and to hear children's “wish” lists. December 4 through Sunday, December 12, Western Bloodstock will host a series of cutting horse sales. All levels of horses will be available including two-year-olds, brood mares, and finished horses.
