Word from the CVBs Stock Show & Rodeo The annual Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo is coming in January, and it is time to begin planning which events that you wish to attend. The Stock Show is our oldest Fort Worth tradition and is tied to the heart of the community's identity as "Where the West Begins." For those who have lived in this area for many years, the Stock Show is well-known because of that great tradition including the annual parade, which is recognized as probably the largest all-Western parade in the United States. The parade travels through downtown Fort Worth on Saturday, January 15th, and is always enjoyable. For many families, the Stock Show grounds, with the numerous livestock exhibits and shows, are always a wonderful experience. Each year is different from the last because of the many different breeds of livestock that can be seen during the course of the Show. I suspect that every type of animal raised in Texas and the Southwest will be on the Stock Show grounds. The Fort Worth Convention & Visitors Bureau has visitor brochures about the Stock Show with specific dates for the various animal shows and exhibits. The 30 PRCA rodeos are another great tradition. These rodeos run from January 21st until February 6th and include the basic competitive events along with the popular calf scramble, the Cowtown Cutting and the GMC Chuck Wagon Races. In recent years, the Stock Show has added two additional events–the "Best of Mexico" produced by Jerry Diaz a well-known Charro, and the extremely popular Ranching Heritage Weekend with the "Best of the West." Now is not too early to get your tickets for the wonderful Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo opening in January. Holiday FUN CENTRAL – Arlington,
